We arrived in Paris from an early morning flight from Madrid, about a two hour plane ride of mostly sleep. Rafael scored a hotel in downtown Paris for around 200 Euros for 3 nights. Normally, this room would cost 150 per night. We were immediately excited after getting off the plane and hearing the French accent, noting how gorgeous the language sounded. We arrived at the hotel Derby Garibaldi, threw our stuff in the room, and set out to silence our hunger. We decided a local bar type place with outrageous prices and mediocre food. After lunch, we planned to go see the Eiffel Tower then head back to the hotel for a nap to recover from the early morning. En route, we were awestruck by all the amazing looking pastries through the numerous bakery windows. One place, looked like pieces of art on plates, and we vowed to come back.

Having seen the Eiffel tower in numerous pictures, movies etc., we weren't exactly blown away by the sight, but it's something we had to see. It was pretty cold and we couldn't manage more than about 30 minutes of hanging out.

We went back to the hotel, napped and Rafael woke up to a bad headache and nausea. We ended up going out to eat, and Raf's condition did not get much better...
After the Eiffel tower challenge was defeated, Raf went home and Tim and I decided to stroll around for the evening. We decided to hang at a local cafe and call it a night. We wanted to get plenty of sleep for the Louvre the next day...
